Following a partnership agreement between the SADC and the Matawinie CLD, the FORVALCO co-operative has put forth a study on the harvesting and growing potential of NTFP (non-timber forest products), in Matawinie’s private forests.The partnership has allowed this regional study, largely subsidized by the CRÉ, to paint a clearer picture of the agroforestal potential in Matawinie.In the following paragraphs, we wish to share with you the essential elements to come out of this study.

A new tool is now available for job seekers, as well as to improve the visibility of Matawinie businesses.It is the « Business and employment » database, accessible via the SADC Matawinie’s website.It was developed in partnership with the SADC Achigan-Montcalm and d’Autray-Joliette, with the goal of improving access to information, as well as the placement rate within regional businesses, and stimulating business development.

Proud partner of economic development, Matawinie’s Centre local de développement (CLD), launched today the 3rd edition of the Gala des entreprises de la Matawinie. The CLD president, and MRC warden, Mr. Gaétan Morin, proudly announced the partnership which was struck between the CLD and the Matawinie Caisses Desjardins.With its contribution of $15 000, Desjardins has become the official partner of this important event, and, as such, accepts Honorary Presidency of the event.This is a first, Mr. Morin was pleased to announce, as there was no such Honorary Presidency in preceding editions.

The Quebec SADC Network is thrilled by the announcement, made by the Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), the Honourable Rob Moore, and the deputy of Beauport-Limoilou, Mrs. Sylvie Boucher, concerning the renewal of the Small Business Internship Program (SBIP) 2010-2011.

Close to one hundred apprenticeship opportunities will be offered to small and medium-sized enterprises in Quebec, allowing them to develop e-commerce strategies. Industry Canada’s financing includes 75% of a post-secondary student’s salary.The Network invites businesses to take advantage of this program.

The SADC Matawinie, with the financial support of Service Canada’s Career Focus program, launches this year, a project called: “Springboard to employment for youth from immigrant families”.This project targets the labour-market integration of youth, aged 18 to 30, from immigrant families.Through the integration of these workers in Matawinie businesses, we wish to contribute to the creation of sustainable employment directly related to their respective field of study.
